Not sure about sstrams, he may be mostly into 'shark' movies rather than ocean but what the heck.
Gotta be a movie where the 'ocean' is a major character, not just the backdrop for a scene or two.
Ok, I didn't think about this long so my list is going to be VERY lacking.. I KNOW you guys will add several that I'd probably rate higher than some of those in my list:
This is 'kind' of in order... but actually some are so close it was a coin toss.
8. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. As strange as it gets... but there is something about this movie that mesmerizes me.
7. The Poseidon Adventure - this movie is just plain 'fun'.
6. Mutiny on the Bounty - Golden age of Hollywood... some 'overacting' but they pulled it off.
5. Jaws - like sstrams I love this film... I don't love it as much as Stever but it's excellent. Fun, GREAT acting, Exciting, what more could you ask for?
4. LifeBoat - Hitchcock film... what can I say, it's Hitchcock.
3. 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea - as a kid this movie was probably the first to make me see beyond home to the vast expanse of the universe.
2. Moby Dick - just an incredible tale. I think one of very few 'novels' to transition well to the screen... NO, not the novel, but excellent.
1. The Old Man And The Sea - Admittedly not for everyone... Like Moby Dick one of the best 'character' portrayals in film history.
