Greatest movie endings

James mentioning Pierce Brosnan brought to mind the ending of one of my favorite all-time British movies.

It's very dated now and doesn't stand up too well, but at the time it was incredible and it's 'The Long Good Friday' with Bob Hoskins and Helen Mirren..

<spoiler alert>

The whole final scene is just killer.

The arrogance of Hoskins when he walks out of the hotel after ripping the Mob and calls for his driver.

The annoyance at first and then fear when he realizes what is happening and then the slow realization that the IRA have him and he's %$&*^#

Hoskins deserved an Oscar for that one scene he packs so much into it.

Then up pops PB looking soooo young and the music that is sooooo 80's but soooo good kicks in.

Brosnan even manages his trademark smirk as he aims a gun at Bob Hoskins head.

Such a clever and (at the time) unexpected ending.

Genius.

There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.
