Thats the kind of the issue across the board. No sure things. Whitworth isn't a sure thing not to show that he too old, Blythe is not a sure thing to show that he will not get abused at Center, Corbett is not a sure thing to show that Cleveland made a mistake dumping a high draft pick. We also don't know for sure how Edwards and Evans will do this year, will they step it up? No sure thing.
In a nutshell, the entire OL is no sure thing and there isn't much top tier talent there to begin with. Sure, its a synergy thing, sum of the parts and all that, but we aren't talking about OL talent like most top teams invest in with drop back QBs.
Overall, if the Offensive Line does not improve, this regime will be lambasted for not drafting anyone and there will be even more changes on the coaching staff along some front office changes (scouting) too.
I for one was not that overjoyed when they brought Whitworth back, he's the security blanket, that is tethered and worn, I would of rather had them make a deal for Trent Williams, who is now a 49ers. I do believe Havenstein will come back strong and I like Blythe at Center, it's his natural postion, where he can utilize his intellect & his ability to get leverage, there was a huge difference with him making the line calls combine with snap consistency over Brian Allen.
As to Austin Corbett, Aaron Kromer liked the kid coming out of Nevada and IMO, that is why they seem very high on him, if Corbett can play well along with Whitworth holding up until Noteboom is ready to take over at LT, which is his natural position, the unit could be very solid, but if not, all of us will be demanding answers, that is why I believe the unit barring injury will come together, I believe in Aaron Kromer as one of the best OL Coaches in the NFL, so I expect this until to bounce back and the offense to be one of the better ones again with the addition Cam Akers and the emergence of Tyler Higbee.
