you provide 1 example of marketing failure and you think that changes the marketing process? I'm sure there are thousands of examples of marketing failure but even more of marketing successes. Do the Oregon Ducks ring a bell? Maryland Terrapins? I realize old timers don't like those unifirms but the majority of kids do. If it didn't attract a fan base they would stop. Nevertheless, the fact remains they need to build a base of young fans. How would you propose they do that? Obviously winning is #1. But I would put the uniforms second. I guarantee their market testing indicated young kids preferred the new uniforms to the old. But if they turn out to be wrong it will change. Again not rocket science. Just follow the money.
Not sure I agree on the college analogy. Is the college fan base younger across the board compared to the NFL? After all, the oldest college player is how old? The average age of college students is what?
Also, disagree with "If it didn't attract a fan base they would stop". They just keep making more uni designs. How many different uni's does Oregon have?
Lastly, there are some REALLY bad uni's in college football. REALLY bad.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
