I like maybe all of us here am unhappy w the horn on the helmet - you just dont mess w an iconic helmet that the fan base has identified w for decades - but there may be somewhat of a reason to do so and it just might have something to do with the design of the modern day helmet - the helmets are becoming more high-tech and aerodynamic made w lighter but stronger materials and they have changed quite a bit from the old rounder Ridell helmets of yesteryear - and one of the more evident changes are the ear holes - they are not round anymore and it seems to be more challenging to get the classic Ram horn around them - I think this along w the crevices that run on both sides of the midline create placing of the iconic Ram horns much more difficult to pull off - ideally the horns would be much wider and nearly touch at the front of the helmet and the end of the horns would wrap tightly around the earhole - simply put the modern day helmet does not provide enough room to successfully pull off what all of us would much rather prefer - wider horns that wrap around the earhole - so instead we get two bananas - just an opinion
I think you are correct on all your points however, I still think the full horn could have been done. So what if it takes a little more creativity or work to get right? That's what made our helmet so unique. As you said "you just don't mess with an iconic helmet" & "now we have 2 bananas". The update DIDN'T work IMO. It would have been MUCH better with a full horn!
I think I do like the chrome look, still not sure until I see it on the field. Just wish they hadn't neutered the horn! Just like the logo and uni, this whole thing was WAAAY over thought and ruined a great iconic look. What a shame.

“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
