They basically restacked the S position this draft and that comes on top of a second year S in Rapp who had a strong rookie season. Also they guys they brought in are both very good at what Fangio defenses like to do with their safeties, so both being good fits in the scheme on top of Rapp makes it extremely unlikely they will need to pay Johnson.

So JJ is playing for his next FA contract this season. Which is a good thing btw and I expect he'll play extremely well.
