Highlights are one thing. I wanted to see a lot of snaps from Lewis against hi-quality competition.
Here's the film:
Terrell Lewis (Alabama EDGE) vs LSU 2019
I was delighted by the pick and still am.
But I didn't see what I hoped to see here. Both tackles stone him one-on-one a LOT. (Charles was drafted in the 4th by Washington; Deculus is returning to LSU for his senior year.) Sometimes the hustle just isn't there. Sometimes he gets washed out of the play altogether. The few times he has a chance to make a play, he doesn't. Course, the competition is topnotch. Burrows, in particular, is a bit of a magician and deserves credit. But I hear the competition in the NFL is topnotch too. Lewis gets the big int, but Xavier McKinney makes the play. (And McKinney is an absolute monster in this game.)
I repeat: it's exciting to have a young, physically gifted player with that kind of ceiling on the edge. I look forward to seeing him develop and hopefully realize his promise. But I wasn't impressed by what I saw here.
