Does drafting Akers, Jefferson, and Hopkins mean the Rams are down on Henderson, Reynolds, and Everett?
Well in the case of Hopkins, according to him, the Rams told him at the combine that they saw him as a tandem with Higbee. If true, and I see no reason to not believe him, that indicates they're down on Everett doesn't it?
I didn't catch that detail, but while it's unlikely that anyone is flat-out lying, it's pretty unlikely that it went down just like that, don't you think?
How likely is it, even on paper, that the Rams braintrust, has already displaced Gerald Everett (who has shown plenty of promise) with a 4th-round rookie with questionable hands they weren't even able to work out? And, even if they were thinking that, how likely is it that they told said player that at the combine - i.e., long before they knew they actually would draft him - that he'd replace someone actually on the team and returning for another year?
Why would the Rams, who NEVER throw their players under the bus in public, do that? This isn't T.J. Hockenson destined to be the 8th pick last year. Why would any team say such a thing to a mid-round prospect? Why would they do that before actually seeing him in pads? How would Gerald Everett feel about that?
Again, not saying anyone's deliberately lying, but I think it's very likely that something got lost in translation along the way.
