Okay, but wasn't Bones a top ST coach? Why did we have such bad ST play? GZ is gone and so is that 70 yard FG threat he represented. Hekker not only didn't punt well but his trick fake plays didn't work either. We had like no return game. We were a top ST team 2 years ago when we went to the SB. I know we'll add a PK but we could use a KR/ PR too.
Yup, Bones is great; I expect him to rebound too. But the Rams had a bad year on ST. We didn't even get into their return game. The kickoff return game is squashed across the league, but the Rams' punt return game was absolutely anemic.
So, yeah, if the baseline for a comparison is 2018 or 2017, I don't feel great. But 2019? We're likely to improve on that weak sauce.
