If you can trade Cooks for a pick that earns you a second round RB (Perine, Dobbins, Swift, Taylor) I trade him and eat the cash. The offense was better when not forcing the ball to Brandon.
Rams have Higbee, Kupp and Woods. They need OL and RB with few draft picks.
McVay's offense needs a deep threat skill set. When he became the coach, that's the first thing he made Snead go get. First in Watkins and then Cooks. And both times he emphasized that his offense needs someone to fill that role to work.
The point of the deep threat isn't to force the ball to him; it's so that there is someone to
credibly take the top off of defenses and dictate safety play.
I question whether the offense was actually better without Brandon. From a points-scoring perspective, I don't think that's true.
