We just see this differently.
Brandon Staley was the OLB coach with the Bears for 3 years and knows Floyd’s strengths and weaknesses intimately I would think. I have to assume that Staley wanted Floyd specifically for the new D and pounded the table for him. I believe that Staley has specific plans as to how he wants to use Floyd, but we won’t see that usage until the fall.
Staley was a Fangio disciple in a D that puts heavy emphasis on LB play along with unpredictability that even McVay found very difficult to deal with. Heck, that’s a big reason he was hired. I’m gonna give Staley the benefit of the doubt until he proves he doesn’t deserve it. I really believe that Floyd is part of Staley’s plan.
Time will tell whether Staley was creative or foolish in acquiring Floyd on a one year prove it contract.
