This, of course, became a much more important area of need with the loss of TG3.
My focus here is in 3 areas ... one is "Does a top 40 back fall to 52?" The only thing moving me off a Edge or OC at 52 would be if a top 40 RB slides down. So I am 100% in agreement with you.
Next is "Which late 3rd/4th round heavy RB can we use as a workhorse?"I don't want a workhorse. I just want a guy that can play well with Henderson for the next 4 years and then let someone else pay him and repeat the process all over. I'm done paying RBs.
Finally "Is there a goal line specialist we can get late?" Again, I'm not drafting a RB only for GL duties to take up a roster spot, he is going to have to be more then just a buiser.
When I look at OZS running backs, I want a guy that has excellent vision, good instincts, patience is a must, as is 1 cut ability. They don't have to be the worlds greatest athlete, but they need those things. I don't care what size they are.
Cam Akers Florida St. 5-10 217 4.47 4.47 -- 20 DNP 35.5 10-2 9 30 5/8 So ... He literally made a million dollars on the Duce Staley drill. His feet were unreal. My guess is that he's gone by 52, if he's there I'm definitely considering it. Agree, he's my #4 back. He's not my 1st or 2nd choice, but he'd be a nice consolation prize.
Jet Anderson TCU 5-10 208 4.61 4.61 -- 19 DNP 36 10-8 9 5/8 30 1/2 UDFA. Talented and likely to make a roster, but not special enough to spend draft capital on. yep, nothing special
Eno Benjamin Arizona State 5-9 207 4.57 4.57 -- 12 6.97 39 10-2 8 5/8 31 1/4 He consistently out performs my expectations ... I thought iwas the only one that likes him. Looks like he's building a fanclub.
AJ Dillon Boston College 6-0 247 4.53 4.53 -- 23 7.19 41 10-11 9 5/8 31 5/8 Target in round 4, maybe comp 3rd. Ive watched him since his freshman year, and believe he was going a bit easy this year. If you get the way he ran as a freshman, this is a top 50 back. He has grown on me a bit as I watch him more. I thing he could work in an outside zone scheme. 4th round feels right to me as well.
J.K. Dobbins Ohio St. 5-9 209 DNP DNP -- 23 DNP DNP DNP 9 1/2 29 3/4 Does he make 52? He didn't perform so that's a bummer ... but does Akers push him down to 52? This is MY guy. And I don't like OSU, so thats saying something. he's a perfect fit and I am sprinting to the podium if he is available at 52, not trading back.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire LSU 5-7 207 4.60 4.61 -- 15 DNP 39.5 10-3 9 5/8 29 So ... knowing what I know about his leadership Im tempted to take him at 52. I want an edge at 52 so odds are Ill have someone rated higher. Can we trade down and take him at the end of the 2nd? If he fell to around 60, this is a good value pick IMO. My #5 back and a very good compliment to Hendo.
Darrynton Evans Appalachian St. 5-10 203 4.41 4.42 -- 20 DNP 37 10-5 9 1/4 31 5/8 He will be underdrafted, but he's speed and I don't think we need that. Love his game, he is dynamic. i think a Hendo Evans duo would be nice. Def. a day 3 guy.
Joshua Kelley UCLA 5-11 212 4.49 4.50 -- 23 6.95 31 10-1 9 5/8 31 5/8 This guy will be underdrafted and in the right situation could be a serious asset. agreed.
Anthony McFarland Maryland 5-8 208 4.44 4.45 -- DNP DNP 29.5 9-8 8 7/8 30 3/8 This kid will be underdrafted ... and Im betting he makes a powerful change of pace with unexpected power. Yeah, I like him. He's got sneaky power for his size, but make no mistake, his money is getting the edge and hammering HRs. X plosive
Zack Moss Utah 5-9 223 4.65 4.70 -- 19 DNP 33 DNP 9 1/4 31 1/4 Im not a fan as much as most ... Id take him for goal line in the 6th. same, I just dont get him as much as some others do.
La'Mical Perine Florida 5-11 216 4.62 4.62 -- 22 7.13 35 9-10 10 1/4 31 5/8 Target for round 4. Attitude is a big plus. a nice complement to hendo, patience is top notch and he is an absolute 1 cut beast with some wiggle. Love him
James Robinson Illinois St. 5-9 219 4.64 4.64 -- 24 7.03 40 10-5 8 3/4 29 5/8 I think this kid gets underdrafted ... could be a steal. couldn't agree more
D'Andre Swift Georgia 5-8 212 4.48 4.48 -- DNP DNP 35.5 10-1 9 29 7/8 Great day ... he should be locked into round 1. yep
J.J. Taylor Arizona 5-5 185 4.61 4.62 -- 19 7.00 34.5 9-10 8 1/2 28 3/4 I'm not sure, never really liked his tape all that much and he didn;t have a great day. hes so small. Not my type of RB.
Jonathan Taylor Wisconsin 5-10 226 4.39 4.41 -- 17 7.01 36 10-3 9 1/2 31 1/8 Game changing back like Saquon who will slide because of wear and tear. I would love to see a kid with his attitude, size, speed, patience and 1 cut ability on the Rams roster. Perfect fit
Patrick Taylor Memphis 6-1 217 4.57 4.57 -- 15 DNP 34 10-3 9 3/8 32 1/4 Will be underdrafted and I hope he's a UDFA we can pull in because of ties to Henderson. that would be nice, never thought of that TBH
Ke'Shawn Vaughn Vanderbilt 5-10 214 4.51 4.52 -- DNP DNP 32 9-9 8 7/8 30 7/8 See Rico Dowdle. Another patient runner that works well in a OZS, and can be had late. I like him.
Thoughts and comments welcome ... In my mock I take Dillon/Perine in the 4th. I am really focused on guys that get into the end zone from the 3 or 4.
