He would fill that SS/Nickelbacker role and upgrade us over Christian. As a rookie he would immediately make us better in that role, but he also has a really nice frame to grow into as he gets a shot at the WILB role down the line.
The guy is extremely physical when you look at him vs the typical SS types that go round 2. So if he's there I have to think the Rams look very hard at him.
They have two SS types in JJ and Rapp. Do you think they may be looking for more of a FS type now? I do think they'll be looking at a safety at some point.
I think what they really need is a single high safety and that would help our secondary immensely. But the Rams don't seem to agree. Also those guys are harder to find than SS types and in this particular draft there aren't a lot of deep types with top instincts.
So I think where they are drafting it would be more feasible to consider Chinn because he's a bit of a freak and offers the Rams short term upgrade value in Christian's role and potentially a nickelbacker role to help make up for Littleton's loss, and long term value (potentially growing into a plus WILB or FS). He has extremely high upside IMO so he might not make it to us but just pointing out he's one of those guys I think makes sense.
Now whether that upside can overcome the OL need we have at Center and dev LT, I have no idea. Or even RB for that matter. We'll see.
