not to us as fans no. but neither did SJD prior to this season. in fact i dont think he played a down in a game prior to this year. with that in mind, the coaching staff seems high (or did) on gaines. i wouldn't be surprised to see him in a starting role this year. that being said, a veteran presence in case he falters wouldnt be a bad backup plan.
