TRENT WILLIAMS
OT, WASHINGTON REDSKINS
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the "cold war" between Trent Williams and the Redskins is "thawing a little bit."
Per Rapoport, Williams recently had a "very positive phone conversation with Ron Rivera." Rapsheet reports Williams would not have bothered to return the call under the previous regime, which includes Washington's since-replaced training staff. The Redskins have reportedly abandoned their desire to trade Williams after ousting ex-GM Bruce Allen. What once appeared impossible — Williams remaining in D.C. — is now looking likely.

TRENT WILLIAMS
OT, WASHINGTON REDSKINS
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Redskins coach Ron Rivera and LT Trent Williams recently touched base for a "positive conversation."
The next step would be for Williams and Rivera to hold a visit. Washington reportedly has the 31-year-old left tackle in their plans moving forward, but Williams has yet to show mutual feelings after holding out for all of '19.
There are still some signs he could return with a fresh start since ex-GM Bruce Allen and Washington's tenured training staff — the two thorns Williams held the most angst towards — were all removed and revamped this offseason. Communication between the two sides is, at the very least, a positive.
