Obviously, you need a team willing to give up assets for a player they might be able to get without trading for. OTOH, getting him before he hits the truly open market might be worth giving up something for. On the third hand, a big contract + an asset might seem too steep.

Seems a no-brainer for the Rams. Any reason not to go that route if they find a willing partner?
