Who's looking for drama here? Made a comment that the staff might not be set in stone and the poor production might mean his job isn't a given. I think that's a fair sentiment.
A lot of people, I think. I think it's an equally fair sentiment that some people are leaping to conclusions with this negative stuff about the offensive coaches. I did say if he replaces Waldron you might have a point--but it looks like the fire and replace day has past.
Here's the logic I am countering---because he hired an OC, that means he does not have faith or trust in the coaches he kept. This is partly based on the mistaken idea that in effect last year they divided the coordinator role between 2 guys. Actually the coordinator was McVay.
BUT according to that logic, McVay does not have faith in any of his defensive coaches either. He went to replace the coordinator on the defense too and also did not promote from within. There's no logical reason to avoid extending that argument to the defense. If it applies to the offense it applies to the defense too.
So anyone willing to go along with the idea that hiring an outside candidate for OC and DC means McV does not have much faith in several coaches he KEPT, including Waldron, Kromer, and Pleasant, among others? (When actually the person he replaced as OC was himself?)
So yeah we disagree. I think people are leaping to conclusions. and as I said that's a fair sentiment too. And it's okay to think that, we'll agree on other things, it's no big deal.
