On Whit, your statement doesn't follow. Whit has played great the entire time with the Rams until this year where there were 6 games he played next to an inexperienced dumpster fire. And then after the dumpster fires were replaced, he returned to his normally scheduled great play.
If that's a coincidence it's a very strange one. So no, great guard play isn't the reason he plays great but covering for terrible guard play could be the reason he looks bad.
According to your own logic it does. You attribute his falling off to the guard (I don't btw). You say he improved when Edwards started. From your own logic it follows that he needs a guard next to him, so that playing next to Saffold would make him look especially good.
Personally? I avoid all that. I think he himself in himself and because of himself started out 2019 poorly. If anything it's the other way around--as I keep saying, you can start 2 newbies inside if both OTs hold up, and neither did.
So we just approach this in opposite ways.
