The #2 QB is extremely important. Goff has been so durable but this will be an important topic over the offseason. I could see Bortles getting a Case Keenum/Joe Flacco offer in free agency. A contract with a team with the idea that he might start until a rookie QB was ready to take over. It would be good if there was a way for the Rams to keep Bortles as the #2 QB in 2020. It will cost more this year. The Rams were lucky and smart to get him at such a low contract in 2019. Back up QBs generally take up some cap space. John Wolford brought some excitement to preseason games last year. I wondered if he might have gotten a start against the Cardinals in that last game of the year. The experience would have really benefited him. It seems early in his development/career for him to be the #2 QB.

Someone else posted (sorry don't remember who) that a QB such as Mariotta like Bortles might want a year with McVay on his resume.
