There is something to be said about a hard, fast rule like the NCAA targeting rule. It takes judgement out of the equation. You use your crown, your done, you go helmet to helmet, you are done. No one can scream bias or unfair or whatever.
That being said, I think there are times when I 'm not sure what a defender can do to avoid helmet to helmet. Its those times where I don't like that hard fast rule. Last night was targeting and he was correctly booted. And I'm sure he will learn from it. but on those hits you can't avoid, not only do you not learn from it, it probably just confuses you more and makes you less certain.
