Bruce was 2nd in career receiving yards at the time of his retirement behind only Jerry Rice.
2nd all-time. Since that retirement there were a few that passed him up in this modern era where yards are more plentiful, but to me that is
an amazing stat of overall career productivity.
He should have been the superbowl MVP over Kurt Warner, but they went with the feel good story. He had 162 yards and the big touchdown, making a tremendous play turning an a likely interception into a 73 yard touchdown by not tipping off the defender that had the inside track on the ball and adjusting at the perfect moment. The book ends long touchdowns in that year was amazing and every big game Bruce showed up that season including that over the hump 4 td game against the 49ers. But will anybody ever have the first play of the playoffs be a touchdown pass and the last play ever again in the history of the league. No way.
Than there is playing so well with bad teams in first few years and playing well with the great teams, and the overall longevity of putting up good seasons is hard to do and he did it year after year whether the team was bad or good.
I think of all the Rams from that era he is the most deserving of the Hall of Fame and he is the only one not in. He simply had a better overall career than Pace, Faulk, and Warner.
