Who knows... The numbers are slightly inflated from the end of the Dallas game but fact remains he played extremely well down the stretch. Is he going to catch 100+ balls next year? No. But it's crazy how a guy that averaged 1.8 catches/game his first 42 games under McVay then suddenly averages 8.6/game. Honestly, it could be more about McVay adjusting than anything. But regardless it's a good sign for the future.
The biggest thing that happened was Everett going out and giving Higbee a chance to show he can actually play. McVay had to try some new things and it was right place right time for Higbee to showcase his skills..... hoping everyone forgets about him come draft time next year in fantasy, but I doubt it....he will be a top 5 TE in most mocks.
.... Higbee was drafted in 2016. McVay et al had a long time to see what he could doing before his "breakout."
And, for the record, I think Everett can be a receiving monster too. Hope we get to see it next year.
