The good thing for Long is he is developing into a nice CB4. And entering 2020 he is not under pressure to start. Maybe he can win the job over Hill, who knows. But it's also fine having him enter 2020 as the 4th CB again. It's really 2021 they need him to be the full-time guy opposite Ramsey.
Starting in 2012 the Rams have just been hitting on all cylinders when it comes to acquiring DBs. And they do it every way possible.
Trades: Peters, Talib, Ramsey
Free Agency: Roby-Coleman
2nd rounders: Jenkins, Joyner, Rapp
3rd rounders: Johnson, McDonald, Johnson, Long
4th-7th rounders: Gaines (who is still in the league)
UDFAS: McLeod, Christian
CUTS/CASTOFFS: Hill, D. Williams
Did I forget anyone?
When it comes to just the draft, They picked 12 between 2012 & 2019. I count Alexander as a bust, along with Bryant and McGee. (Scott is too soon to tell so it's really 11). 3 busts out of 11 picks is a ridiculously good 72% hit rate.
Next year's projected starting unit looks really good.
CB: Hill? Long?
CB: Ramsey
Nickel: Roby-Coleman
FS: Rapp
SS: Johnson
Rams best secondary since....?
