We lost to Staubach in 73, Tarkenton in 74, Staubach in 75, Tarkenton in 76 and 77 and Staubach in 78.
Truly sad part was, those Rams teams were so good, we didn't need a qb the top caliber of a Staubach, Tarkenton, Stabler or Bradshaw to have won multiple Super Bowls. I'm convinced that if we had had (in no particular order) Bert Jones (Colts), Bob Griese (Dolphins), Ken Anderson (Bengals), Dan Pastorini (Oilers), Dan Fouts (Chargers), Jim Hart (Cardinals), Steve Bartkowski (Falcons) or Archie Manning (Saints) as our starting qb through that time period, no-one would know who the Pittsburgh Steelers are today. The 1970s would have belonged to us.
Now whether Knox would have utilized them to their full ability, that's another story. In my opinion, he never came close to maximizing the talents of Snow, Jackson and Jessie in that time period.
