When it rains in SoCal before a "HUGE" Ram Game.......I'm always reminded of "The Mud Bowl" between our Rams and Vikings.
As the story goes...............It was 1977 and I was 12 years old.
It RAINED and RAINED and RAINED for 3 straight days and rained all day on game Day. The Coliseum was a swimming pool and the Rams needed to beat the hated Vikings to get a chance to play the Cowboys in the NFC Championship. Man, it was always the Rams, Vikings and Cowboys back in those days. Those 2 teams kept our Rams from getting to numerous Super Bowls.
I remember very vividly..........
Game was "blacked out" locally, so my twin brother and I had to listen to it on the radio.
It was the day after Christmas, my Dad made plans, so we "had to go" to another home. UUUUUGH!
The other family were not really sports fans, but my brother and I did not care. There was no way we were not going to listen to that game.
We sat in front of that old radio for the entire game.
Still remember it like it was yesterday!
I was 14 years old and "yes" the game was blacked out. My Dad took me to the game and we sat at the very top in the NE corner of the stadium. It poured the whole game and my DAD was very angry at the Ram's game plan. Like Pat Haden said a few years ago- That was a team that should have won multiple Super Bowls if they had a better qb. He was talking about him being the weak link to those teams.
