there was a play where he had a mile of open space.....can't remember if it was a screen or run
old Gurley would have scored or busted off a long run, he made a nice run due to the huge gap, but the burst was not there
it looks has he has evolved into a power runner
... about him being a power runner. He's never been much of a power runner and he still isn't.
I assume his hands are still solid and he's very good in pass pro, which is hugely important. He doesn't fumble much, but I don't think he's anything special in that regard compared to most feature backs. (I don't remember Brown fumbling, but he obviously has a lot fewer touches.)
But I saw little to excite me about Gurley as a runner. Maybe McVay et al think giving Gurley plenty of touches - knee permitting - will allow him to be his best. We'll see. But, right now, there are no plays where I see what Gurley does and think: Brown/Henderson couldn't have made that play. But I have seen runs by those guys, especially Henderson, and thought: Gurley wouldn't have made that play.
