I mean, one deep shot/bomb per Qtr...just ONE play given at some point in every Quarter of a game should be given to throwing a bomb.
Why? Cuz it does so much...it keeps the defense on it's toes and forces them to cover ALL of the field. DPI is often a side effect...or a completion...or a TD. INTs are rare if the play is well executed by the QB and Goff excels at deep throws when he has a clean pocket.
The main point is psychologically for a defense...it keeps them ready cuz they know at some point you WILL take that shot...CBs will be vulnerable to underneath stuff - Digs & deep comebacks, etc..
There's not much to lose cuz I'm talking about just 4 plays a game...and if it's
not there....throw it away.
just my opinion on the matter...since that's why we're paying Cooks the big bucks...to take the top off a defense...even if they don't complete the pass the actual threat - will help other facets of our offense immensely. imo
