Panic or Anger, as mentioned in the article, seem to be the ways to really show you care about what your doing?!
huh????????????????
Intense emotions are not so good for physical focus during sports - imo...... and cause disruptions in the brain. It can create a thunderstorm of brain firings that need to be quieted in order to complete the task at hand. Training/repetition help alot. Soldiers train & train so that fear can be managed.
Football is the same but with emotions of anger or sadness. Anger/sadness makes player retaliate with dumb penalties. McVay said , "Don't let the Ravens beat us twice"...referring to move on what's done is done and let's beat the Cards.
Isn't good discipline a mark of success or the probability of it??
Why do we fans want the players & coaches to rant & rave - like we do?!!
Is overt emotion really how you want coaches players to respond???
Do you think that a quite burn of intent and thoughtful focus is less meaningful or effective??
Anyone want their pilot or surgeon to get really angry before they fly you or operate on you?!! I sure don't.
Emotions are great motivators but how each of us let those emotions run us make a big difference.
Dogs bark....Bulls walk.
I agree.
Somehow some people want the team to display the kind of out of control emotion they themselves would condemn if anyone did it at their workplace.
