Peters, Suh, Talib. He has kept Goff out of the lime light while not having a great season, and you can feel the tension between he and Gurley, yet nothing not even a rumor. I feel one of his greatest strengths is his relationship with the players and that he can maximize the potential. Again I am talking "rents vet" at a cheap cost, I feel this would be like what Belicheck did to us at the Super Bowl, with Danny Sheldon, Hypothetically speaking, after we signed him, he serves his suspension, we get him with 1-3 games left with no tape on him in the Ram's Offense, nobody would know a proven way to stop him, after we get the Lombardi trophy cut him
Peters, Suh, and Talib are precisely why I wrote this above: "It goes beyond off the field issues. His focus always seems to be on himself and his numbers."
McVay and Snead have actually said about both Peters and Talib that they are strong 'We Not Me' players. That slogan really isn't about off the field issues. It's also not about mercurial, eccentric, or strong personalities. Further, in the case of Peters they had no problem overlooking what they admitted were immaturity issues.
The 'We Not Me' slogan is about valuing players that love football, passionate, hard workers, and are team first. Those are the phrases and words that Snead and McVay constantly use when they talk about what they're looking for in a player.
Brown isn't that. His passion seems to be himself; no matter how well his team is doing, if his numbers aren't good he's complaining. He is the opposite of team first. And that's without all the other off field issues and diva like behavior exhibited this year and previously.
Suh, I believe, was a mistake. He's a player who is about himself but it was an experience that they learned from. I'm certain they realized it was a mistake and learned from it because he's literally the only departed Rams player that I can recall where there was not one peep of "coach speak" from either Snead or McVay of how they enjoyed him being on the team and there was interest in bringing him back. Not one word of desire to bring him back. That's very rare for the Rams.
No argument on Brown's talent and how he could affect the offense. I'm making the argument that there is a point when talent isn't worth it. Brown is that point. He's a bridge too far.
