Thinking about our Oline, salary cap, etc., I have a hunch about our Oline.
I think Havs is being exposed because in today's NFL it is not uncommon for a D to have 2 good outside speed rushers. And Havs struggles with that because he is just so darn big and not very quick footed. Could be he can lose 20 pounds and it might help him..... but I doubt that. He is just a naturally heavy guy who is way down from when he played near 380 in college.
After watching Edwards play, I could see a line-up that includes Whit (I can't see the Rams putting Noteboom there coming off an ACL/MCL unless Whit wants a pretty big contract), New Guy at LG, New Guy at Center, Havs at RG, and Edwards at RT. Maybe the 2 New Guys are on our roster already but I'm doubtful. I could easily see our 1st draft pick as being interior Oline.
I suspect if the Rams offered Whit a 2 year deal at $6 mil per year, most of it guaranteed, he might take it. And I don't think you could find a better LT at that cost anywhere. And I doubt another team would offer the same deal to a guy at his age. Further I don't imagine he'd want to uproot his family again. His leadership alone has substantial worth to the Rams.
