No I don't. I would never say "it's a slam dunk" or "no brainer." I don't "make it out to be a given." It is a strong opinion I have, but then, since the guy has only played 2 games and at OG, I take it for granted that people know it's a (strong) opinion and is not being offered as settled fact.
Sometimes I don;t take it for granted. Also me from this thread:

But why should I be pedantic that way? It should be obvious that when someone has a strong opinion about a player who has not come through yet, that that's their view of it and it
couldn't be offered as "fact" even if the poster

Though going back, I thought he was a left OT prospect the minute they drafted him. Yes, an ex-qb, then TE, who protected Wisconsin's left-handed qb's blind side. I said from the beginning he has the potential to play LOT. He's playing well at LOG. Is that the same lead foot etc etc? As you say it's a good first step. It is just not rare for players to switch OL positions that way, from left to right and vice versa, and for someone who is quick at mastering technique (which he apparently is) I don't see an issue.
I don't care that he only played OL 3 1/2 years. There are guys who make quick transitions. When Timmerman was on a superbowl winning OL for GB in 1996, he had only been an OL for 1 year BEFORE that--95--since he played DL in college and was converted in the pros. Timmerman had qualities that transcended the normal expectations, and I for one see similar possibilities in DE. So....I see a lot of promise in DE. He is one of those guys, looks like, who picks things up fast and has an instinctive feel for playing his position (which right now we'll just call "OL" ). Heck for that matter the best LOT in the league for a few years, Jason Peters, entered college as a DT, switched to TE, and I think only played one year on the OL before the pros (and maybe not even that...he may have been converted in the pros, I don't quite remember.)
Like everyone, I've been wrong before and I've been right before. Either way I just have this big hunch about DE, based on certain things that are out there.
