The Rams really need to spend their money and draft picks wisely anymore in order to stay at or near the top year after year. Long term huge contracts to Goff, Gurley, AD, Cooks, Woods, and Havenstein make that imperative.

I agree that the Rams need to spend their money wisely but I should point out something regarding the nature of some of these long term huge contracts that you reference.
Some of them look huge and for a long time but they're easy to get out of.
Havenstein's is really a 2 year contract with which they can escape after 2020.
Gurley could be cut after the 2020 season.
Cooks is a 3 year contract where they could easily move on after 2021.
Woods is an under market contract. I'm worried he'll ask for a raise. That's probably why they voluntarily gave him a raise this year and next.
Goff and AD are the contracts that will be on the books for a truly long time.
