Completely agree with Boom appearing weaker than other players on film. The difference between his game and Saffiold's is striking. Saffold is a mauler with limited short are quicknees. Boom the opposite. Boom is a good player but at left guard he will be finesse.
That six man front penetrates and keeps the line from peeling off to the second level--there isnt much of a second level with only the mlb. However, the weakness is pursuit. If you can leverage outside the 9 techs its open field. That's where the wide pitch acts as a counter. Next level is the defense not crashing down with the 9 but having them maintain outside leverage and moving outside versus upfield at the snap. Then the outside zone is game on again.
I'm curious why McVay isnt attacking the short seams more versus that front. From the bunch, the WR on the los runs a go--the slot wr five and in behind the go should be wide open.
