1. 5.8 vs. 10.1
The yards per attempt for NO QBs vs. Goff. Last season, 34 QBs qualified for yards per pass and #34 was Josh Rosen at 5.8 yards per attempt. Defense played well yesterday.
2. 35 and 15. Rushing yards and passing yards for Kamara. Again, thats a good day. Esp. after Brees went down and he should have been the focus of the offense...
3. 89 - yards receiving by Thomas. He was a 1 man wrecking crew last year against the Rams. 12/112/1 and 4/36/0 were the 2 games against the Rams last year so they can keep Thomas in check, but again, they shut down everyone in the passing game.
4. If you want to see a clinic on how to run a route, watch kupp on his Kuppquake run to the goal line. he drops his hips, gives the DB about 6 sudden chop steps, and as he finishes his chop steps, gives a head fake to the outside and explodes inside and that DB had literally no chance.
To quote John Wick: "People keep asking if I'm back and I haven't really had an answer, but yeah, I'm thinking I'm back." I think Kupp is back.
5. On the Goff, fumble, the play design is everything that is wrong with the Rams redzone issues and my problem with McVays play calling in the Redzone. Its 3rd and 7 from the 11. So what do you do? Run every WR into the endzone and leak Brown out to the 5. What did the Saints do? Rush 4, man cover Brown (not hard as brown just ran to the 5, stopped, turned around and stood there...) leaving 6 lbers/dbs to cover 4 WRs. Thats 10 men in the endzone and no windows to throw into. Run some danged routes that get you the first down or at least lets a wr catch and try to run for a first down. That play had literally no chance. I know Im not a OC, but anyone that reviews that play can see it has too many players flooding into the endzone to create a good throwing window. I would have killed for a TG wheel route or even a WR screen there.
6. Goff is playing OK, just OK (like that commercial where just ok is not ok) This team will go as far as Goff takes them and for some reason, right now, I just don't trust Goff. Plenty of season to remedy that.
7. Donald is allowing every other defender a one on one matchup. Someone needs to step up and start making teams pay for that. I do like what I am seeing from Fowler.
8. I hypothesized that the drafting of Rapp would lead to alot more big nickel alignments on defense. As Rapp gets more comfortable, he is going to play more and more.He is just such a movable chess piece due to his intelligence, size and speed. I love the Weddle, JJ3 and Rapp TBH.
9. I think we are seeing the last of Brockers in a Rams uniform. Someone will pay him and the Rams will not match. Not for his production.
10. Littleton is working his tail off to get paid. I'm impressed so far. Leading the team in tackles (followed by the law office of Weddle, Johnson and Rapp)
11. Rams have come out sluggish in the first halves of these last two games and at some point that just isn't going to work (esp. against teams like KC and NE) I hope its due to the no preseason game action. I guess we will see.
12. Not Rams related, but I find it interesting that 3 Qbs are either done for the season (Big Ben) or out for an extended period of time (Foles, brees) and they were all in the pocket, non-running injuries.
13. Can Tyler Lockett, DK Metcalf and Chris Carson beat the Rams? I just cannot see it. SF has a TE, but the only way SF beats the Rams is if Shanahan can scheme his way to a win. In short, even at a 3 way 2-0 division, its the Rams to lose.
14. It will be interesting to see if the Saints can tread water until Brees gets back. And no i don't feel bad, never liked the Saints and its football.
15. I'll throw some college into my thoughts since, its my post lol. I love the CB class this year personally. I know I am going to over value most of them, but my top guys are all 6'-1" or taller and can cover. I am also paying real close attn to 34 DE types/ Brockers replacements and there are some good ones in Alabama, Auburn and LSU. Edge is a bit weaker this year.
