sorry to get all nostalgic on ya
I remember scratching my head THEN at how many people showed up late to the game.
Of course... back then I was even more of a fanatic. I'd pull into the parking lot hours before they opened the gates.... no, or very little, tailgating in those days so I'd be waiting at the gate to enter before the night crew was relieved. The second the gates opened I'd rush to my seat... not wanting to miss a single moment of pre-game activity.
By kickoff time I had been 'seated' when most people coming to the game were probably brushing their teeth to greet the new day.
It was common for the seats to not be completely full until the 2nd quarter had begun. I've never been particularly snobbish but at those times i'd just shake my head in disgust at the late arrivals thinking, "Oh ye of piss poor fandom".
I’ve seem the Rams 3/4 times when they played in Anaheim. I ALWAYS arrived a couple hours before the game so I could be in my seat, with snacks in hand, at least 30 minutes before kickoff. Hated the thought of missing the kickoff. I would also wait to leave my seat for at least 30 minutes after the game ended. Dint want to fight the crowds. I would park my car outside the stadium so I wouldn’t have to pay for parking, and it made it much easier to leave the area since I didn’t need to hassle getting out of the lot.
