And it looks like it will be a highly effective and long term era, at that.
The 1-2 punch of Gurley and Brown gives the D absolutely no chance to relax. Brown is perfectly capable of punishing with runs both inside and outside, is a very capable receiver and a nightmare after catching a pass, all while being a superb pass pro specialist. IOW, not a big drop off from an elite Gurley.
By the 2nd half, the Panthers were giving up huge chunks to the Rams’ running game. It didn’t hurt that the Ram OL seemed to be gelling more with each snap. Maybe some of it was the heat and humidity, but then again, it was hot and humid on both sides of the ball.
And McVay has yet to introduce Henderson to his O arsenal, both running and receiving.
A tremendous side effect of using this combo is that it should extend the careers of both players AND result in a potent Ram running game come playoff time, right when needed the most.
A strong Ram passing and running game in December might be virtually unstoppable.
I’m loving the potential of this OL coupled to this RB duo. Soon to be perhaps a trio? Lol.
Detroit really blew it by letting Brown get away.
