Your answer--I would like them to play only one ilb. Our best players are likely our 3 safeties and our back corners. Get them on the field. If we need size--use a big guy to stuff the gaps but I want the db speed for pursuit.
The way I look at this:
The first question I would ask is how important is the second ilb position to us winning the football games. Next is what is the difference in play between Kiser and his replacement?
First question--not much. Plays maybe 33% of snaps. Perhaps more against a Seattle type offense. Stopping the pass is more important for winning than stopping the run. Wade can scheme stopping the run if necessary. I still like our chances as a defense if we give up 5 yards a carry. Still is 14 plays to score from the 30 running. I don't think many offenses can go 14 plays without a penalty or a missed block.
Second--minimal. He was leading a position but it was close. Although a rookie, I think Dakota Allen is very close. He will have very limited responsiblities as a starter. He will line up with Littleton, Weddle and JJ there to answer questions and guide him. So, experience doesnt really bother me. In college, Allen was an excellent run defender--that doesn't become radically different in the NFL. Allen played 609 snaps in 2015, 997 snaps in 2017 and 587 in 2018--he is has field experience. Allen wins the job imo, and is lesser than Kiser but not by much.
