Now you're just talking sense! No reason to "wake up."

Williams base salary for 2019 is $10,850,000 and in 2020 is $12,500,000. We can't afford him this year as the Rams have just $4,850,000-ish in cap room.

Signing Williams would throw Rams draft strategy and offensive line development principles out the window. We drafted Noteboom and the new guys this year to develop them into starters to avoid paying big bucks to a free agent LOT.

Williams is 31 years old and signed for just two more years, one of them he would play out of position at guard on the Rams. Then you have to offer him a third contract or tag him.

Also Noteboom may be better.

No sense throwing the long term strategy out the window for a shiny object. That's how teams get in trouble. Our front office and coaches are better than that.
