when he has looked bad he has looked really bad and against good teams
I also think his lanky appearance doesn't help ...although to me its clear he has put on muscle and has gotten better/stronger athletically
nope its really simple... people can't shake how poorly he played against the Bears, and Eagles on national TV and then again in that SB. He also did not paly particularly well in the playoff game against Dallas even though the Rams ran for 275 yards
People had doubts about him... then he played lights out in the first 8 games and then when he lost Kupp and the Rams couldn't run against the Bears and Eagles then he looked downright awful
It sticks with people and won't go away until he shuts people up...by beating those teams
Thats how it works
He has more wins than any of the QB's subjectively ranked higher then him and better stats then most..... all QB's have duds once in awhile, even Brady....they're human. It's literally impossible to look fantastic in every game....Goff has looked pretty damn good in most, excellent in a few and bad in a couple....in the ones he looked bad, the o-line also looked bad(kinda goes hand in hand)
Trust me, if Cooks makes one of those catches in the Super Bowl and Rams pull out the win, a lot of perceptions would be different about Goff and his play in that Super Bowl.
Sometimes you just have to give great defensive teams their due and admit there was some coaching issues as well instead of putting it all on the 24 year old in those games.
Just as you have to give credit to the coaching in all of those wins too.
Teams he beat in 2018
Raiders
cardinals x2
Chargers
Vikings
Seahawks x2
Broncos
Niners x2
Packers
Chiefs
Lions
Cowboys
Saints
Teams he lost to in 2018
Bears
Eagles
Saints
Patriots
I just don't think you can plug in any of those top 5 QB's and think we would have gone unbeaten
