My point is that unless you hear from the athletes MD -in this case an orthopedic surgeon-you really don't know much. Certainly not Farr-no matter how "close" he is to the players. There are just so many different aspects of arthritis including complications and rehabilitative medicine that you really do need to hear directly from the professionals. Farr is not one of them. Nevertheless, anyone is free to place whatever weight they want on an x players view of another active player's injury.
I've been asked by relative what do I think of Gurley's injuries. My response is always the same: "I don't know how serious it is and we'll likely find out this coming season. From what I've "heard" it sounds like an arthritic knee whose origin likely comes from his ACL surgery in college. How he will play is anyone's guess. Hopefully, he will be fine."
Well you make perfectly valid points.
I am going with my gut on this though and I think for a couple of years anyway, depending on the pain/inflammation fl;are-ups, he will play well overall.
And it IS true as a general observation that RBs can play with an arthritic knee. That's just not an uncommon thing.
That's my bet. Which I realize does not mean that I have predicted the future with deeply assured certainty.
