No kidding. It's not like there's any actual current games to talk about. The OP wasn't ignoring the success of the present in favor of the past. If one thinks that playing "what if" with the past is pointless, just how much more pointless is chiming in when you don't care?
As far as the '89 Rams O vs. the '85 Bears D, it would have been interesting. Those Rams O's were darn good and the Rams beat the Bears in '84 and '86 with far less talent and scheme on offense. '85 was just a bad combination of things all at the wrong time.
