znWell I think they waived him to put him on the PS. But then he opted to sign with the Lions, not Rams. Later (ironically) the Lions waived him and the Rams snatched him back up.

Jamil Demby signed with #Lions practice squad. #Rams were in running. But circumstances - Brian Picucci, #Lions offensive assistant/quality control was Demby's O-line coach at Maine - worked against them
Correct, Rams wanted to keep Demby PS, but the Lions claimed and kept him on their roster for several weeks and then waived him because they were thin in the secondary or at running back as I recall....Rams wanted to sign Demby after that to their practice squad, but he chose Detroit because of Picucci and being closer to home...Glad the Rams got smart and just signed Demby late in the season off the Lions PS, who were unable to activate him to theirs.
IMO, Demby offers great depth being able to play all the positions on the offensive line and obviously OL Coach Aaron Kromer likes his game. Ironic that Picucci now with the Lions was his position coach at Maine, whereas Rams Assistant WR Liam Cohen was Demby's Offensive Coordinator for the Black Bears as two University of Maine Coaches moving on to the NFL, great for that program.
