Two preseason games followed by 18 regular season games is a win-win-win for players, owners, and fans.
With these few changes...
Two byes per team, both occur within week 5 and week 15 (new 20 week season).
Each team schedules at least 2 controlled scrimmages with other teams during camp, 3 or 4 would be even better.
Camp could be lengthened to 5-6 weeks, if all parties see a benefit.
Rosters increased to 63 players.
All players are active on game day.
Everybody benefits.
Owners make as much, if not more money thanks to increased TV revenue.
TV has 2 extra meaningful games to televise with increased advertising revenues.
Players union has more dues paying members and more consequent influence.
An additional 320 players would now be earning at least a minimum NFL salary.
Fans in general, and season ticket holders in particular, get two less meaningless games loaded with non-starters and two more meaningful regular season games chock full of starters.
Almost makes too MUCH sense, don’t it? Lol.
