we know way more than that

Plenty of speculation on this board and talking heads on tv and radio (including ex-players) - Arthritis, etc. None of it backed up by a doctor who's examined him or looked at his scans. Do we know he had no other ligament issues? MCL, LCL? An issue with Patellar tendon? Cartillage damage that didn't need surgery? It's a lot easier to just say he has arthritis and can't carry the load and that's that.

Yes we do know about ligament issues. He had an MRI and the report from that was no structural damage. No surgical issues. This was directly reported.

AND we don't have to know the exact diagnosis (arthritis of some phase or stage) to know the EFFECTS.

He had pain and swelling twice on a surgical knee and both times the knee stabilized and he could run again. Then in the off-season they set up a program where he would lose weight, work with an outside trainer, not run at all in OTAs or camp or pre-season, and have his carries caught back during the season.

Speculation would be to try to name the exact physical cause of that.

But you don't need to do THAT to know it's SOMETHING and that it has led to all the things listed above.

BUT AGAIN we KNOW it's not surgical because they spoke up about what the MRI revealed (no structural damage or trauamatic injury to any aspect of the knee.)
