"The days of Todd Gurley just being the straight-up, every-down bell cow are probably over, just based on his knee, his age, the position, the amount of carries he's had," Rapoport said on Monday's edition on NFL Total Access.
Rapoport appears to be making this statement without having examined Gurley, talked to the Rams, or having anything other than speculation. Based on his age? He is 24 years old. Based on his position? Unless he has he changed positions recently, this would not seem to be a valid argument for why things will be different? Based on his knee? Anyone who is speculating on the condition, shape, capability, or status of Todd Gurley's knee and what will happen in the future without having medically examined him or spoken directly to someone who has examined him is purely talking out of his hind quarters.
Sean McVay has been given many, many opportunities to say that Todd Gurley will not be the Rams "bell cow" running back going forward and has refused to say this. In fact, if you listen he says the opposite. This hysteria over TGII's knee is preposterous, and people are going to look pretty foolish in October and November when Gurley is in the top 3 in rushing.
