oh. i love what you're doing here. it's friday night. i've had a gin & tonic and i'm in the mood to run with you're euphoric post just for the pure fun of it. can't get enough fun.
i'd like to add to it from a cap space and comp pick perspective:
3. alex bachman replaces mike thomas, boogie roberts replaces tanzel smart, landis durham replaces justin lawler. doesn't save alot but all 3 extend low value contracts beyond their replacements.
2. noteboom , evans and edwards all show enough promise in 2019 to be the heir apparent to whitworth. but each of them are capable and more than willing to play guard or back up tackle if they don't get the lt call. this allows snead to sidestep having to scour the 2020 free agency to pay an lt 15m+
1. rams are so far ahead of the division and the nfc leaders by early december that they put bortles in to protect goff for the last 3 regular season games. bortles blows it out ala nick foles. goff returns for the post season but both games are blowouts by the rams by the early 3rd quarter so enter bortles in both games for most of the 2nd halves and he just embarrasses opposing offenses even more. fast forward to march after the rams win the superbowl and pete carrol becomes so smitten with bortles he offers bortles the largest and longest contract for any nfl player ever, dumping russel wilson. unfortuneatly for carrol, bortles performance is an aborition manufactured by macvay. bortles sucks endlessly after he joins the seahwaks and his contract sets back the seahawks into a 10 year death spiral. meanwhile, the rams pick up russel wilson and repeat the bortles cycle for the 2020-2021 season. in an unprecedented move, the nfl awards the rams the 1st two 3rd round comp picks for the bortles contract in the 2020 draft. in 2021 it happens again since the precedent was set due to russel wilson going to the jets for a contract that eclipses the bortles contract, in the april, after the rams win back to back superbowls.
and with that i will go nurse my next gin & tonic. i'll go to bed gigging and wake up in the morning not knowing what i posted the night before. until i come back to the board and stumble across my own post which will remind me why folks shouldn't drink and post ....
