Whether Florio is insincere or not doesn't preclude him from wanting attention..
And the truth is no one is a mind reader so they have no idea what his motives are. I will say this though. If you;re a writer who craves attention, how high does writing about Goff rank on your list of topics that will get you national, widespread attention?
If we did a survey of hot topics being discussed in the sports media right now, does Goff even make the top 100? Is writing about Goff right now a big career making move?
And then there's this. We;re a Rams board. Anything said about Goff, we will be sensitive about. What are the odds a writer will be dismissively critical of Goff, without at least someone making it ad hominem and making the writer the issue? They're pretty high, right?
In reading sports media, no one knows a writer's motives. Those who claim to are the same as everyone else--they have no idea. They may claim they do but then that's just a type of rhetoric we see from fans...and that's all it is.
Meanwhile, I disagree with Florio, and I think he's wrong, and I think the idea that the Rams are hesitant about signing him to a 2nd contract is pretty misguided. So my disagreement is with the claim, and the argument. IMO bashing the writer adds nothing of value to that.
...
All I said is that he wants attention. And who wouldn't? Thats his business. He wants clicks and he gets them in all different ways. So now in the middle of May he calls into the Dan Patrick show and throws out his opinion on a big market QB who just lost the SB. He isn't wasting his time. He's not talking about Marcus Mariotta is he?
You seem to be getting locked in to something that someone else said about Florio and applying it to every poster. Im not bashing Florio for wanting attention. That aint me. This is regardless of whether I agree with him or not.
Also, the claim that you aren't seeking attention when you take a critical position on Goff because there are other bigger names to criticize is actually illogical.
Thats like saying I would never eat at an inexpensive restaurant if I could afford to eat at an expensive one.
And whether you agree or disagree with Florio is irrelevant to this discussion.
