Gurley coming out and running around pain free would tell us a lot and would be great.

My take? Whether or not he is pain free now is not really relevant and won't reveal anything. He does not have some kind of damage that asserts itself every play. He apparently has a lingering condition of some kind that can flare up. In fact (as I point out in a different post) it flared up twice last year, and both times he was able to play again after the condition calmed down (in fact one of the incidents was in game 1). There is no telling when it will flare up again and in the meanwhile, he can look fine between flare-ups.

I know the prevailing wisdom is that he has a lingering condition but the Rams have really worked to keep us in the dark regarding his knee and most of what we hear is speculation from very knowledgeable sources. However those who speculate on the condition of the knee have not examined Gurley and are only offering educated speculation. What we know is that he had some sort of problem with the knee. He has had an off season to rehab the knee I am still curious to see how he responds this spring/summer.

Yes, no poster has examined him (and even if allowed to only a tiny fraction would have the knowledge and training needed to do it). But the same logic applies either way. If we don't know what the condition is we will not be in any kind of position to know what his actions in OTAs mean. So if he is physically fine for now, that doesn't necessarily tell us anything. No poster has examined him. So none is in a position to say that full participation means anything. And though it would be more ominous if he were not ready to go in OTAs, we would still be guessing. Plus the Rams have said they are going to manage his participation, both in practices and team activities AND games, so who knows what not participating much might mean.

We do know some things though. He had pain and inflammation both in game 1 and in December. Both times he was fine afterwards. We know that pain and inflammation do not come from nothing. We also know that it's not an injury because they did an MRI and on top of it the team is obligated to report injuries.

That's not a lot to know, but it rules some possibilities out and heightens the chances on other possibilities.
