DE John Franklin-Myers
Not sure that will see a more athletic JFM, but an all around better football player could be a fine surprise.
LB Micah Kiser
On defense, is there any larger question for a starter than Kiser and that LB spot? Balancing the number of snaps he needs to get in preseason versus the need to be all finely polished will weigh heavily on Wade. Not much choice but to get him out there and keep him there until it makes no sense.
EDGE Obo Okoronkwo
I know it drives some of the board that I have such high expectations for Obo. It's just hard to not be excited to see if he can translate his sometimes epic college play to Sundays. He's got some pressure to show up now. I suppose the question will be can he find his way into the earlier rotations in preseason, and then make the most of it. If he's coming in late in the second half? That's too steep a hill for him.
RB John Kelly
Camp spectacular doesn't make for in-season difference maker. Kelly may find his way back on to the roster, but guys like Hodge, Nick Scott, and a bunch of other special team types could make him expendable.
G Jamil Demby
He'd have to a dramatic summer to stay aboard, imo. Not to say I don't like the guy, but the pressure is on. They can't afford to mess around with this section of the roster and the depth component. Thing is: Kromer welcomed him back midseason. Fact is, they've got a bunch of guys and only a couple of spots.
DT Sebastian Joseph-Day
I don't think he's a 2019 roster guy.
LB Trevon Young and Travin Howard
Back end of the roster. They liked what they were getting from Justin Lawler above either of these guys.
With some new bodies around who knows. The other side of that coin is that one of them could swipe Obo's spot.
DE Justin Lawler
Lawler was mostly seen by me as a stand up LB type situated towards the right side. He just looks the part to me, and pure hunch that he stars during the summer. Like him; think the coaches do, too. We'll see.
