I do find it interesting that a team may, on purpose, select lesser players in greater quantity than a small number of better players do to their current roster composition and salary cap implications.
I don’t know for certain that’s advisable for every team but I think for the Rams, given Snead’s success in the middle rounds, it’s a great strategy.
Both Snead and McVay mentioned multiple times that they’ve had very good success recently in the 2nd to 4th rounds. That was clearly a big factor in formulating their strategy.
But if you’re a GM that does great in the early rounds but subpar in the mid rounds, you probably should avoid this tactic.
